Overseas Filipino workers in Bahrain who are experiencing reduced income or unstable work schedules may qualify for $200 cash aid from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
The assistance comes as many OFWs across the Middle East continue to face changes in employment conditions, including fewer work hours, delayed salaries, and temporary job loss.
In Bahrain, workers in service, retail, and hospitality sectors are among those affected by shifting business activity.
Who Can Apply for the Cash Aid
The DMW clarified that the program is open to OFWs whose jobs have been directly affected by the current situation.
This includes workers who:
- Lost their jobs, whether temporary or permanent
- Experienced reduced salary or delayed income
- Had shortened work schedules
- Encountered work disruptions
These conditions have become more common as companies adjust operations and manage costs.
How Much Assistance Will Be Given
Qualified applicants will receive a one-time USD 200 cash grant (around ₱12,000).
The aid is meant to help cover daily needs such as food, transport, and other basic expenses while workers adjust to their situation.
Requirements and Alternative Options
To apply, OFWs must prepare:
- Passport copy
- Proof of employment (contract, visa, or labor card)
They must also provide proof of income loss, such as:
- Payslip showing reduced salary
- Employer certification of reduced work hours
- Notice of termination
Important: If formal documents are not available, applicants may submit a self-declaration (sariling salaysay) or certification from Filipino community organizations. These serve as alternative proof to support the application.
Application Process and Registration Update
The DMW is expected to release a Request for Assistance Form (RFA) for applicants to complete and submit along with their documents.
However, the official registration process in Bahrain has not yet been announced.
OFWs are advised to wait for updates from:
These offices will post official instructions and application details once available.
Prepare Early to Avoid Delays
Authorities encourage OFWs to prepare their documents ahead of time, as many applications are expected once the process opens.
Being ready can help speed up submission and reduce delays in receiving the cash assistance.
