Two cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus have been reported in the Kingdom of Bahrain on a single day. The first reported case was announced by the Ministry of Health in the morning of February 24, 2020 and the patient was isolated and is receiving treatment. On the night of the same day, another person was reported to have been infected with the coronavirus.
The first patient is a school bus driver and came from Iran via Dubai on Feb 21, and the symptoms appeared a few days later. The bus driver had workerd on a Sunday (Feb 23) and dropped off children at 2 schools. The ministry has contacted the families of students who took the bus, and all have been tested to ensure they are free of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The 2nd case is with a Bahraini woman citizen who had arrived in Bahrain after a visit to Iran, accompanied by her husband and her sister in law, stressing that the accompanying relatives were also moved to isolation as a precautionary measure, after testing negative for the virus.

Ministry of Health announces new case of Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Kingdom of Bahrain after a Bahraini citizen arriving from Iran was suspected of having contracted the virus, based on emerging symptoms.
The patient was transferred to the Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Medical Centre for immediate testing, treatment and isolation under the supervision of a specialised medical team. The ministry undertook further necessary medical measures to monitor all individuals who had been in contact with the patient and referred them to isolation accordingly.
The ministry said it is taking further preventive measures to ensure the virus is contained, including monitoring the health of individuals arriving from infected countries for a period of 14 days, in line with international standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“The ministry calls upon all citizens and residents who are experiencing symptoms of COVID19, including a fever, coughing and difficulty breathing, or those who have traveled to one of the countries infected with the disease or have interacted with a person traveling from any of those locations, or interacted with an infected patient, to isolate themselves, call 444, and follow the instructions given by the medical team, and avoid close contact with others,” the ministry said.

Ministry of Health announces new case of Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The Ministry of Health has registered a new case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), confirming a total of two registered cases in the Kingdom so far.
The second case was registered after a Bahraini woman arriving at the Bahrain International Airport from Iran via Dubai was examined as part of the precautionary measures taken in light of the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The ministry indicated that the infected citizen had arrived in Bahrain after a visit to Iran, accompanied by her husband and her sister in law, stressing that the accompanying relatives were also moved to isolation as a precautionary measure, after testing negative for the virus.
The ministry stressed that all necessary measures are being taken to examine each passenger arriving from affected countries and that they will be transferred immediately for treatment if symptoms of the condition are found or confirmed following laboratory analysis and will be isolated at the Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Health Center in Salmaniya.
The ministry highlighted that a comprehensive medical protocol has been established to combat COVID-19, which is in line with established international guidelines as set out by the Gulf Health Council (GHC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The ministry added that patients who are suffering from or are suspected of suffering from COVID-19 are being isolated until laboratory tests are complete. If test results are negative, patients are advised to return home, and remain there for a further 14 days.
The ministry noted that registered cases will remain under comprehensive observation and receive medical treatment from a specialised medical team.
The Ministry of Health noted that it continues to coordinate with all relevant authorities within the Kingdom of Bahrain and is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
