Guide to Renewing Your Driving License in Bahrain

The renewal of driving licenses is handled by the General Directorate of Traffic. The service applies to individuals who are 18 to 60 years old.

Required Documents

Before anything else, the applicant should prepare:

  • Driving License / Permit Form
  • Driving License
  • Identity Card
  • Service Fee of BHD 10

Procedure

Applicants may renew their driving licenses at the General Directorate of Traffic or at the nearest Post Office. The steps for both locations are presented below.

A. General Directorate of Traffic Office

  1. Go to the General Directorate of Traffic located at Road 3025, Aali, Kingdom of Bahrain. The office is open every Sunday to Thursday (7 am to 7 pm) and Saturday (7 am to 1 pm).
  2. Submit the required documents and information for checking and verification.
  3. Pay the necessary fees.
  4. Wait for your new driving license to be issued.

B. Post Office

  1. Go to the nearest Post Office. These are open every Sunday to Thursday (7 am to 2:15 pm).
  2. Submit the required documents and information for checking and verification.
  3. Pay the necessary fees, including a mailing fee.
  4. Wait for your new driving license to be sent via mail.

Additional Reminders

  • Applicants are advised to renew their driving licenses at least three months before it expires.
  • Applicants should not have any pending traffic violations.
